JENFAIRCHILD PHOTOGRAPHY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Curious about the photography business or small businesses in general?
Want to gain intimate insights as to how things really work?
Read below to find out more about the position as well as qualifications needed.
A quick snippet about me.
WHO AM I?
Hi I'm Jen, a soon-to-be 30 year old full-time photographer, with a fiery soul and a need for speed. I have 10 years of experience of honing my craft, and I truly believe in the power of a photo.
My little business is growing faster than I could have ever imagined and I have enormous plans for the future - so I'm anxious as can be to find someone that I can take along for the ride.
Outside of the world of photography I enjoy: riding my motorcycle, movies (I'm talkin' allllll kinds; Redbox, Sundance, hbo, documentaries, chick flicks, you name it, I'm a storytelling sucker), the performing arts (Paul McCartney, KOL, Muse, the Utah Symphony, Ballet West), dinner dates with the slew of incredible people in my life, my family (duh), and my little dog, Pierre, who has the air of a gay Frenchman but the heart of a gangster.
I am passionate about the earth and aim to be mindful and intentional in all aspects of my life. But beyond all that, what you really need to know, is that I'm quick with a joke and will ask you as many questions as I need til I feel like I know you.
Feel free to follow me on snapchat @ jen.fairchild to get the undiluted experience.
(payment in the form of mentoring - read below)
PERSONAL QUALITIES OF INTERN
Keen eye for design ++
Excellent communication skills
Fast learner and most importantly willingness to learn
Sense of humor (this is non-negotiable, I mean, we gotta be able to enjoy each other's company right?)
If you haven't recognized these qualities in yourself yet but have a thirsty heart, are eager to learn and prove yourself, please still apply - I may be the one to help you realize your true potential.
SKILLS INTERN NEEDS TO POSSESS
60 wpm (I don't actually know how fast that is, I just know that if you're a two finger typer, this ain't the rodeo for you)
Must know iOS (non-negotiable)
Must enjoy computer work (also non-negotiable)
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite ++
Knowledge of Mailchimp ++
Knowledge of Hootsuite ++
Knowledge of social media ++
Knowledge of CS, Mailchimp and Hootsuite is not required but is highly preferred as it will significantly cut down on training time, allowing us to get right to the good stuff as quickly as possible. Design sense is most important and like I said before, I am more than willing to teach the right individual.
WHEN & WHERE - This position will require intern to report to my office (in downtown Salt Lake City) the first and third Tuesday of every month. This is how it's working in my head right now but this may change as we get into things (flexibility and adaptation are key).
WHAT - Intern will be handling the building and scheduling/automation of all marketing avenues. I will remain the creator of the content (depending, we'll see how clever you are first, you sly dog you) and you will be my golden messenger.
LENGTH - Ideally, I'm looking for someone to grow with, but right now I'm looking for a minimum of 6 months commitment. Like I said before my business is growing extremely fast and there are areas in which I would love to hire a paid employee down the road, so, needless to say, there is room for growth if the right person comes along.
(Sidenote: I'll probably end up affectionately nicknaming you 'intern', and we'll be best friends and they'll make a movie about us - but really, the actual movie called The Intern with Robert DeNiro and Anne Hathaway is a favorite of mine. You should watch it).
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
Simply put, and with no trace of ego attached, me. I am anxious to take someone simpatico under my wing whom I can be a source of guidance for. God knows I didn't get to where I am right now all on my own, so I'm beyond thrilled to be in the position to be able to offer something like this.
In exchange for your time and efforts, I offer my life experience in the form of mentoring; this could be on photography, business, life, relationships, movies, books, and anything else you might be curious about - I am your personal open book.
IS THIS FOR YOU?
I am looking for a real, honest to goodness hardworking human with real life experiences and a thirsty heart. No resume fluffing bullsh*t here. So if you're still reading and you're feeling like this is something you were born to do, you'll know because you'll feel the blood pumping in your veins, and it will feel like a magic egg just cracked open over your head, spilling it's feel goods down your spine.
Head left and apply, and I'll see you on the other side. XO
