BATMAN AND BREAST IMPLANTS
This post originally started out with 'nothing is better than when a client invites me into their home for a second time to capture their growth'........and then I read it, and wanted to barf. The thing is, there really IS nothing better than a return client, but somehow, with this family, those words fell flat and the meaning became lost in translation.
So I'm just going to give it to you straight. These guys have been through hell these past two months; illnesses, a breast removed (and replaced) due to cancer, and yesterday morning I learned of the passing of their beloved cat. ?!??! When it rains it pours??
Lately I've been thinking a lot about our inner and outer worlds and how they relate. For example, say I'm having a hell-ish day and there's a storm brewing inside, when someone asks how I am do I say I'm fine? Bear the burden myself? Tell the truth? Put the storm on them?
I think oftentimes we hold in the crazy (talking for myself here) because we don't want to seem a certain way, but if I've learned anything from the great teachers at Pixar and the geniuses behind Inside Out, it's that the only way out is through, and the only way through, is to invite others in.
I had no idea what these guys were dealing with during our time together (and none of us knew what was to come) but the minute I found out about the cancer, my first thought was 'Why didn't she share the news sooner??'.
Life get's rough, and sometimes it's downright treacherous, but we don't have to do it alone. We can choose to invite others in to help keep our boat afloat and we don't always have to be so damn heroic.
Round two with these guys was just as fun and somehow this little guy aged 3 years over the past 12 months, and turned into batman.
RIP Samuel Bean
I'm curious, what do you wish you had photos of?
